The attackers were not actually seen, but it is a safe assumption that they were monkeys of some sort. These monkeys altered some server settings without notice, thus breaking every script on the site (including the Locatrix, the news system, and the newsletter subscription form). If you tried to use the Locatrix or subscribe to the newsletter in the past week or so, please try again now.

No, actually, I'm not talking about the middle east. This is a much better application of the phrase: a new technology, in the test phase currently, which can produce oil from blood and other organic materials. Put waste food, plant matter, plastics, and other organic materials in one end, and fuel oil and other useful industrial chemicals come out the other end. Even better, it's very efficient and its waste product is water. Read the linked article below for more information.

Comment | Read CommentsSubject: Eris - The Movie
It seems that Miramax came quite close to releasing a movie about our favorite and/or least favorite goddess, then canned the project mysteriously. The film was supposed to star Edward Norton (you know, from Fight Club) and Heather Graham, and be directed by Darren Aronofsky, who made Pi. Apparently most of the shooting was completed. Now, though, the project has been shelved and Miramax has pulled all mention of it from their web site. One assumes they don't think it would be profitable, but they're going to release another Pokemon movie, so how could that be the case? For more info, see the links below.

The Quebec-based Raelians, a group which has purportedly been trying to clone a human to re-enact its own extraterrestrial creation myth, claims it has just succeeded. Check out the Boston Daily Globe article linked below for all the fun details. If the US government does end up banning cloning, it may be people like these who actually figure it out.

For better or worse (I'd say worse), the Department of Homeland Security now officially exists in the US. If you're interested, check out this list of what agencies have been transferred around, abolished, and created as a result.

I have updated the Eriswerks book page, which can usually be found under Propaganda. It should be easier to follow now, and includes books by Discordian authors and with discordian themes as well as reccomendations by Eriswerks members. If you know of a Discordian book that we missed, please email me.

The Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency has designed this nifty logo for it's new branch, the Information Awareness Office. Nice, huh? I wonder if they're trying to tell us something... If you were wondering, the latin on the logo means "Knowledge is Power". Reason.com has a short article on the logo, with some nice links in it.

Comment | Read CommentsSubject: Orderly Protesters
Unions negotiating with Yale University have begun staging protests and demonstrations to voice their concerns. Unlike your typical protest or demonstration, the latest event by the unions was so orderly that one could swear it was planned by Greyface.
"Union leaders said they planned the disobedience to show how much support the unions have. Leaders arranged the event with New Haven Police beforehand, submitting cards with personal information from all of the demonstrators who would be arrested. Police used the cards to fill out citations before the event, which they handed out in an orderly fashion after the demonstration was broken up...Demonstrators were instructed not to move until they could be escorted to the Green, where police officers had set up tables to distribute prewritten citations, arranged in several lines divided by last name."
It's a bit surreal to see protestors lining up to recieve citations from police because the whole thing has been prearranged.

Looks like I've been given the wonderous ability to post news as well (along with my memetic sidekick Bobo the Chimp). So, as my first item I shall act in my official capacity as Space Lord of the Ambrose Bierce Mexican Travel Agency Cabal and pass this along: "U.S. authorities have given their approval for the first commercial flight to the moon, the group sponsoring the mission announced." http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/space/09/13/moon.venture/index.html There's a good oportunity to send the first Discordian propaganda to the moon too: "Eventually, the Trailblazer will go down to the lunar surface, film the descent and deliver a time capsule with cargo from Earth, including personal mementos like photographs and messages. But it comes with a price. To deposit a business card, for example, will cost $2,500. "
